Just released is Stateline's 2006 State of the States report. (News research also has a print copy.)

Stateline.org is a most comprehensive site for politics and policy news - state by state. Stories, graphs, polls, and other analysis provide comprehensive looks at issues at the state level.

National Conference of State Legislatures is also an excellent resource for analysis and comparison of state issues.

Both resources are extremely helpful for comparing issues state by state.
