OPENonline Tip of the Week

Expanded Search Methods added to National Criminal History Report

Beginning December 6th, finding national criminal records in the National Criminal History Report will be easier than ever with the addition of two types of search criteria, exact match and extended match.

Recommended for employment screenings, exact match is the most precise search you can perform. Exact matches search only for records that contain an exact match to the first name, last name and date of birth. Records that do not match all three criteria are not returned.

Recommended for investigations, extended match contains broad search criteria. Extended match automatically expands your search beyond the criteria entered to assist in finding additional records. This search can be very helpful if you wish to review all potential matches to your subject or are uncertain of how the first name may have been recorded.
