Sunshine Week survey: More People See Federal Government as Secretive; Nearly All Want to Know Where Candidates Stand on Transparency

The Observer recently published an annotated list of the 50 most influential blogs from around the world. Here’s their top five:

1. The Huffington Post
2. Boing Boing
3. Techcrunch
4. Kottke
5. Dooce

Governing magazine’s has published their Public Officials of the Year list. Christine Gregoire was the only governor to make the list of nine officials. Gov. Gregoire also made the cover.
The magazine cited her open management style and says, "Gregoire had brought state government a transparency it had never known before."

The last time an Oregon official made the list was 1994, when Mayor Vera Katz and Commissioner Beverly Stein were both honored.

Portlanders Like to Blog

Editor and Publisher reports that Scarborough Research has declared Austin, Texas as number one, Portland as number two, and Seattle as number three in percentage of adults that are bloggers. Nationally, eight percent of all consumers are bloggers.
