Online Identity Management

The Pew Internet and American Life Project released a new report titled Digital Footprints: Online identity management and search in the age of transparency. The 50 page report has some interesting statistics:

  • 47% of Internet users have searched for information about themselves online.

  • 60% of Internet users are not concerned about how much information is available about them on the Web.

  • 61% of Internet users do not feel the need to limit the amount of information about themselves online.

  • The report is based on a December 2006 national telephone survey.
