If you want to check the "authority" of a site, where it comes from, who owns it, etc. This one provides fairly comprehensive information at the "domain" level. "It automatically locates the appropriate "whois" database server for a particular domain name, queries that database for information about that domain name, and returns all available data," including names, addresses and telephone numbers when available.
